The CryoEM Revolution: Advanced Computational Techniques in Structural Biology: NVIDIA GTC 2021

Use of GPUs in support of scientific research has a long history. A new generation of cards are now routinely utilized in support of cryo-electron microscopy, protein folding experiments, and genomic analysis, which places demand on the infrastructure.

For Boston Children’s Hospital, streamlining the processing of CryoEM data sets is critical. Analysis starts as data is being collected and within 2 hours we can analyze the data and make inferences about the quality of data. Because data collection can be expensive, fast analysis allows us to adjust data collection strategy and optimize it for maximum effectiveness. We have fast storage (from VAST Data) in support of that.
